This update brings back the iconic startup sound and visual elements reminiscent of the original PlayStation, turning the modern console into a tribute to its 1994 roots. Available for a limited time, the theme is part of a broader anniversary campaign featuring limited-edition consoles, controllers, and other collectibles styled after classic PlayStation designs.
Earlier today, the company released a heartfelt thank-you video showcasing some of the most iconic PlayStation games from the past 30 years.
The initiative honors three decades of gaming innovation and is designed to evoke nostalgia among long-time PlayStation fans. Sony’s emphasis on blending the past with the present highlights the enduring legacy of its consoles while hinting at future innovations.
