There’s a special kind of magic when an indie studio puts its heart into rhythm not just as sound, but as a living, breathing force. That’s exactly what Bengaluru-based Tathvamasi Studios is channeling with SURI: The Seventh Note, a newly unveiled rhythm-action platformer coming to PS5 and PC. The studio has just released its first gameplay trailer, and with it, an open invitation for players to wishlist the game on the PlayStation Store and Steam.
This reveal isn’t just another indie drop, it’s a proud moment for the team and for India’s growing game development scene. SURI: The Seventh Note is part of Sony’s India Hero Project, an initiative dedicated to elevating homegrown talent onto the global PlayStation stage.
A World Moved by Music
In SURI: The Seventh Note, music isn’t just a backdrop it’s the pulse that drives life itself. Players step into the role of Ajira, a young girl racing against time to save her mother from a strange illness. Her journey takes her across the island of Suri, a place once filled with harmony but now consumed by a dark, corrupting rhythm.

The story follows Ajira as she seeks a magical fruit hidden deep in the island’s heart , her only hope of breaking the curse. But to survive, she must master the island’s rhythm, harnessing music’s power to fight back against the corruption twisting her world. According to the studio, every part of the game world “shifts and reacts to every beat,” turning rhythm itself into the foundation of exploration and combat.
The DualSense Difference: Hear It. See It. Feel It.
Where SURI really sings is in how it uses PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller. Tathvamasi Studios has developed a feature called the Rhythm Haptics Engine, designed to create what they describe as a “multi-sensory rhythm experience.”
Through this system, you don’t just listen to music ,you feel it. The press release explains it as three layers working together:
- You hear the beat through the soundtrack.
- You see the beat as the world moves in sync.
- You feel the beat through the DualSense haptics.
Every soft melody, every sharp downbeat all are translated into tactile sensations that flow through the controller. It’s a design choice that aims to make SURI: The Seventh Note more immersive, grounding its rhythm mechanics not just in visuals or sound, but in touch.
The studio also points to the official PlayStation Blog for more details about PS5-exclusive features, an indication that Sony’s support for the game goes beyond mere inclusion in the India Hero Project.
From PlayStation Fans to PlayStation Creators
For Tathvamasi Studios, this project is as personal as it is professional. “We grew up playing on PlayStation consoles and they have a special place in our hearts,” said Glen Martin, CEO and Game Director of SURI: The Seventh Note. “We’re excited to bring our own game to consoles that were integral to our childhood.”

That nostalgia, the leap from being inspired by games to creating one for the very platform you grew up with is palpable. The studio says it’s been collaborating with Sony on SURI for over a year under the India Hero Project banner.
Martin also underlined the importance of wishlists, a crucial metric for indie visibility. “Wishlisting SURI: The Seventh Note on the PlayStation Store and Steam helps our game stand out in a sea of games being released every day,” he explained. “It tells the platform algorithms and us that you believe in something different.”
A Small Studio, a Big Dream
Tathvamasi Studios describes itself as “a small, yet passionate team of dreamers,” focused on crafting single-player experiences that leave a lasting mark on players. Based on their debut, it’s clear they’re aiming for something heartfelt, a story about rhythm, emotion, and connection, told through music and motion.

The announcement feels like a coming-of-age moment for Indian indie development. SURI: The Seventh Note isn’t trying to mimic Western formulas or chase trends. Instead, it’s rooted in an artistic sensibility that feels distinct rhythmic, atmospheric, and deeply personal.
And while the release date hasn’t been announced yet, the gameplay trailer gives a clear sense of tone: a lush, musical world that teeters between beauty and darkness. Every frame seems alive with rhythm, as if the island itself were breathing in time with the soundtrack.

Wishlist, Watch, and Join the Beat
For now, players can dive into the world of SURI: The Seventh Note through its new gameplay trailer and help support its journey by adding it to their wishlists. Whether you’re on PS5 or PC, that small gesture could make a huge difference for a studio trying to bring something fresh to the rhythm-action genre.
